Interview: Meet MC 2Kingdom, one of the best comedians in Delta State.

In an exclusive interview with Skyward Magazine, MC 2Kingdom, a popular fast rising comedian shared with his fans some inspiration and encouragement about the journey to stardom. He also shared his experience while working with Popular Comedian Eboh Bomb in his first Comedy Album, Comedy Blast Naija. Our Runo Reuben was the correspondent.

Can I meet you

My name is Comrade Utagba Kennedy, the son of late Capt. Utagba Thomas William from Ofagbe Isoko South L.G.A Delta State. As you know, I am MC 2Kingdom, CEO Kingdom World Entertainment and also CEO Comedy Blast Naija. Audio CD that is in the market right now.

In your audio CD, you featured popular comedian, Eboh Bomb. Tell us something about it?

Before coming to meet Eboh Bomb, my colleague in the game, it wasn't easy. Lagos is a very busy place were everybody is busy doing one thing or the other, my friend, Eboh Bomb is a very busy comedian, today he is in Dubai, tomorrow he is in London, from one place to another but was able to carve out time for me whom is his personal person. I lost my father at that period but escaped to Lagos to do this CD. (Please I no say I kill my father o) We spent time night and day in the studio just to make the comedy CD a very funny one, and thank God, you must laugh if you listen to the CD. Try and get your copy, it is called, “Comedy Blast Naija, vol.1” MC 2Kingdom with Eboh Bomb

Most upcoming stars find it hard to identify with popular stars. Why?

Talking about the upcoming stars, one thing I believe is, you have to move. One thing that kills your talent as an upcoming artiste is when you keep what you have within you. If you have something, tell the world this is what I have because everybody around you is a connection. Everyone that lives around you is your fan, is a news carrier. You start somewhere. You can't be staying in compound as a singer yet nobody knows you are a singer. Move. Because you are an artiste and D'bang is an artiste too, does not mean you are the same. He has climb some certain stages you have not climbed. If you really want to do more than D'bang then move, go to shows, look for the nearest events, meet show organizers, tell them what you can do and when given the opportunity to perform, do it to the best of your ability. You might be surprised that a popular star can ask about you, from there, you are in.

How can you make people to laugh

By the special grace of God, I was given an award in 2013, as the most creative comedian in Niger Delta. Before I could win the award, it took me time and hard work. It took me a long time to convince myself that I can make people laugh. You know, there are different people in the stage, some just hard break ups, some are under quit notice and many more, how can I make such people to laugh and forget about their problems? It is creativity.

As a fast rising star, girls love identifying with you. Some goes as far as seducing you. Do you fall for such seductions from female fans?

(Laughing) Trying to avoid falling into your female fans temptation is not easy o, trying to avoid is hard to me. It's a problem. Your female fans are the most desperate who wants to have you at every point in time. It is a big problem to me o. There is this pastor who conducted deliverance for me in one church program. He cast out poverty, sickness and spiritual problems but when it got to point of casting out the spirit of prostitution from me, I told the pastor to leave that one for me because it is helping my ministry. If you don't know any boy or man who sleeps with more than one girl or woman is a prostitute. So I pleaded with the pastor to leave that spirit for me. Na joke o. well, it's not good, try to keep yourself. Life is packaging
What is the biggest mistake you have ever made?
I would say, it was my first comedy album launch. The mistake is that I'm supposed to do this album lunch in a church but I did it in a social gathering. People that came promised me heaven and earth. Some N800, 000, some N500, 000 and so on, cheque were bounced. You know that nobody can give you a fake cheque in a church, nobody can promise you, and not fulfil it. Do you know that I'm still trekking? And I have N800, 000, N500, 000, N200, 000 and many cash somewhere? Even to make a call is a problem. Sometimes you go for a show, you are paid N50,000 before you look the money is finished. You see, it is very unfortunate, after having sleepless nights in the busy studios of Lagos only for people to promise you money which they won't pay. It is a very big mistake I made.

Thanks for your time, see you at the top
